Merry Christmas everyone!
On this episode we review 3 beers that are sure to brighten your Christmas and/or Hanukkah spirits. Dustin and James also debate the reason for the phrase “happy holidays” and offer their own opinions on the subject.
Just a quick warning: We probably managed (again) to offend everyone….but we aren’t sorry.

So, after finally getting on google+ and playing with its features, I had a brilliant idea. I’d like to get enough SBR fans on google+ and do a group beer review in the hangout. We’d choose a beer to review, start a g+ hangout, and review it together. I’d think it be a great way for you guys to get to know me and vise versa and also give feedback on the show. I’d like to know what you guys think about that. Please post a comment on the blog or hit me up on google+. You can find me here https://plus.google.com/102822450046900135921/posts. If you aren’t on g+, let me know and I’ll get you an invite.

Maudite (damned) was the first strong beer to be retailed in Quebec. The word “Maudite” refers here to the Legend of “Chasse-Galerie” a tribute to the early lumberjacks of Nouvelle-France. The legend tells of eight daring woodsmen who, during winter, yearned to be home for the Holidays. They conjured up the Devil and all of them pledged their soul in return for flying them in their canoe to their village. As they sailed across the moonlit sky, one of them managed to free himself from the pledge by invoking the name of God, which caused the flying canoe to come crashing down to earth.

Greetings all,
I just wanted to post a quick update as to what I’ve been up to. Other than the Southern Beer Review, I’ve been working a short film for the past three weeks. For our final project in film class we decided to do a zombie short. Our classmate, Jason Humphries is working on a zombie feature and he wanted to shoot one of the scenes for his final project. He asked me to direct, edit, and be the DP of the 3 minute short film and asked our other classmate to do the score and boom operating. After the four of us were all involved, its a really small class, it turned into a final group project that we put together in two weeks. Its still being polished but we got an A for what we’ve finished so far. We should be releasing it to the web by the end of this month. So, without further a due, here are a few stills from the film. Btw, next week there will be a new episode of SBR posted!
